Kuvataideakatemiassa opiskellut taidegraafikko on pitänyt lukuisia yksityisnäyttelyitä, ollut mukana ryhmänäyttelyissä, saanut merkittäviä apurahoja ja hänen teoksiaan on julkisissa kokoelmissa. Koivisto on Seinäjoen Taiteilijaseuran aktiivijäsen.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Petra Koiviston työskentelyssä laatta on kuin päivä- tai muistikirjan tyhjä sivu. Hän ei suunnittele eikä luonnostele kuvaa, vaan haluaa työskentelyn olevan mahdollisimman vapaata, hetkessä tapahtuvaa: “Annan nähtyjen ja koettujen asioiden ja tapahtumien vaikuttaa työskentelyyni. Laatan telaus ja maalikerrokset ovat kuin ajatuskerrostumia.”</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Maisemat olivat jo Koiviston Kuvataideakatemian lopputyönäyttelyn teemana, joten jokin maisemassa on ollut niin kiinnostavaa, että se on pysynyt pääaiheena jo yli viisitoista vuotta. Maisema on ollut taidegraafikon työssä enemmänkin mielenmaisema: “En lähde kuvaamaan mitään tiettyä maisemaa, vaan maisema on enemmänkin sellainen paikka, missä voi tapahtua mitä vaan. Se elää elämäni muutoksissa mukana ja jalostuu ja muovautuu aina sen hetkisten ajatusteni mukaan.”</p>\n",

"en": "<p>Petra Koivisto was born in 1975 in Ulvila. She lives and works in Jalasjärvi. The printmaker, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, has held numerous solo exhibitions, participated in group exhibitions, received significant grants, and her works are included in public collections. Koivisto is an active member of the Seinäjoki Artists’ Association.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>In Koivisto’s working process, the plate is like a blank page of a diary or notebook. She does not plan or sketch the image in advance but wants the working process to be as free and immediate as possible: <em>“I let the things and events I have seen and experienced influence my work. Inking the plate and layering the paint are like strata of thought.”</em></p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Landscapes were already the theme of Koivisto’s degree exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts, so there must be something in the landscape that has been compelling enough to remain her main subject for more than fifteen years. For the printmaker, the landscape has been more of a mindscape: <em>“I don’t set out to depict any specific landscape; instead, the landscape is more like a place where anything can happen. It moves with the changes in my life and is refined and shaped according to my thoughts at any given moment.”</em></p>\n"

Vuosien ajan elämä on kulkenut tutun kaavan mukaan, kunnes eräänä päivänä hän huomaa merkin, joka rikkoo rytmin. Jokin on muuttunut. Mies alkaa herätä ja tutkia, mistä kaikki johtuu. Draamaelokuva <em>Palvelus</em> (2022) kertoo isästä ja pojasta, sukupolvien kuilusta ja siitä, parantaako palvelus vanhat haavat. Dokumentaarisessa elokuvassa <em>Parta</em> (2024) pappi Late haluaa näyttää itseltään ja maskeeraaja tekee hänelle toivomansa parran. Themes range from reflections on love to forgiveness and diving into the water at night, but they all share the same human longing to be seen and loved.<br><br><br></p>\n<p><strong>Klo 19.10-19.55 Finnish Film Foundation: Briefly Under the Rainbow</strong></p>\n<p><em>46 min | Fin, Eng</em></p>\n<p>Briefly Under the Rainbow is a queer-themed package curated by Finnish Film Foundation for the Finnish Short Film Day. Drama film Service (2022) is about father and son, generational gap and whether service heals old wounds. In the documentary film Beard (2024), priest Late wants to look like themself and make-up artist Kata makes them the beard they wants.
