Tanninen on osallistunut useisiin näyttelyihin Suomessa ja ulkomailla, ja hänen taideteoksiaan on sekä julkisissa että yksityisissä kokoelmissa. Hänelle myönnettiin valtion ylimääräinen taiteilijaeläke vuonna 2021.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Tellervo Lahti luonnehtii Tannista taiteilijana: ”Seppo J. Tanninen on taiteessaan oman tiensä kulkija ja myös syvällisyydessään ainutlaatuinen persoona. Hänen henkinen kotinsa on jossain, jonne me muut emme kovin helposti näe.”</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Ensō on zeniläinen meditaatio- ja hengitysharjoitus, jossa yhden uloshengitysjakson aikana piirretään tai maalataan yhdellä vedolla elämää, aikaa ja elämismaailmaa symboloiva ympyrän kehä. Buddhalaisuudessa ympyrä on valaistumisen ja ei-minkään symboli – äärettömyydestä nollaan.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Seppo J. Tanninen syntyi 1948 Alavudella. Yhteiskoulusta Voitto Kantokorven kannustamana Tanninen suuntasi Oppikouluvaiheen kautta Oriveden opistoon kuvataide- ja kirjoittajalinjalle. Suomen Taideakatemian koulussa Seppo opiskeli 1968–1970. Vuonna 1977 taiteilijan perhe asettui Seinäjoelle.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Vuonna 1972 Tanninen valittiin muun muassa Ibizan V Kansainväliseen Biennaaliin. Yksityisnäyttely Helsingissä Kluuvin galleriassa vuonna 1973 oli menestys. Kuvarunosarja Yöpuulla sai jaetun ensimmäisen palkinnon valtakunnallisessa WSOY:n Vuosirengas ’75-runokilpailussa vuonna 1975. Seuraavana vuonna ilmestyi kuvarunoteos Krunoja. Seppo aloitti 1980-luvulla uransa Ilkka-lehden taidekriitikkona. Tämä lähes toinen päätyö kesti 17 vuotta.</p>\n",

"en": "<p>Seppo J. Tanninen is known in the field of geometric art as a master of form, but also for his use of rare colours and striking contrasts. Tanninen has participated in numerous exhibitions in Finland and abroad, and his works are held in both public and private collections. In 2021, he was awarded the Finnish State’s Additional Artist’s Pension.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Tellervo Lahti describes Tanninen as an artist: “Seppo J. Tanninen is an artist who follows his own path, and a uniquely profound personality. His spiritual home is somewhere that the rest of us cannot easily see.”</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Ensō is a Zen meditation and breathing exercise in which, during a single exhalation, a circle is drawn or painted in one continuous stroke. The circle symbolizes life, time and the lived world. In Buddhism, the circle is a symbol of enlightenment and nothingness—from infinity to zero.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Seppo J. Tanninen was born in 1948 in Alavus, Finland. Encouraged by Voitto Kantokorpi during his secondary school years, Tanninen went on to study at Orivesi College on the visual arts and writing programme. He studied at the School of the Finnish Art Academy from 1968 to 1970. In 1977, the artist and his family settled in Seinäjoki.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>In 1972, Tanninen was selected, among other events, for the 5th International Biennial of Ibiza. His solo exhibition at Kluuvi Gallery in Helsinki in 1973 was a success. His series of visual poems, <em>Yöpuulla</em>, was awarded a joint first prize in WSOY’s national Vuosirengas ’75 poetry competition in 1975. The following year, his visual poetry work <em>Krunoja</em> was published. In the 1980s, Seppo began his career as an art critic for the <em>Ilkka</em> newspaper. This role, which became almost a second full-time occupation, lasted for 17 years.</p>\n"

Näyttely on avoinna 5.9.2026 – 6.2.2027 Seinäjoen taidehallin Vintti-tilassa.</p>\n<p>Vintti-tila toiminut J.P Köykälle teosten lähtökohtana. <em>Muodon perintö</em> -näyttelyssä raja maalauksen ja tilan arkkitehtuurin välillä hämärtyy. Lopulta kysymys siitä, mikä on maalaus ja mikä arkkitehtoninen rakenne muuttuu toissijaiseksi. Tila muuttuu osaksi maalausta. Maalaus muuttuu osaksi tilaa. Katsoja voi kirjaimellisesti astua tilaan kuin maalaukseen.</p>\n<p><h2><strong><em>Muodon perintö</em></strong><strong> -näyttely tarjoaa mahdollisuuden tutkia sitä, mistä taiteilijan teokset muodostuvat</strong></h2></p>\n<p>Köykkä tutkii teoksissaan sitä, mistä hänen visuaalinen perintönsä koostuu. Maalaus voi periä menneisyyden muodon.</p>\n<p>Millainen on seinäjokinen kuva- ja muotoperintö? Köykän työskentelyyn on vaikuttanut muun muassa abstraktin taiteen historia sekä alueen graffititaiteen historia. Teosten muotokieli on vallatonta. Se kumpuaa osittain katutaiteen perinnöstä, mutta on kotonaan melkein missä tahansa.</p>\n<p><h3>Taiteilija</h3></p>\n<p><a href=\"https://jpkoykka.wordpress.com/\">J.P Köykkä</a> (s. 1987) asuu ja työskentelee Seinäjoella. Hän on valmistunut kuvataiteilijaksi Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulusta. The boundary between what is painting and what is spatial structure becomes blurred. Ultimately, the question becomes irrelevant. The painting takes over the Vintti-space. The space becomes a painting. The viewer can literally step inside the painting.</p>\n<p><h2><strong><em>Forms of</em></strong><strong> </strong><strong><em>Heritage </em></strong><strong>offers an overview of everything that can make up the painter’s practice</strong></h2></p>\n<p>The past is a heritage that is transformed into forms of painting. In his works, JP Köykkä explores what his legacy consists of. What is the local visual heritage of Seinäjoki? Köykkä’s work is influenced by history of abstract painting and the region’s history of graffiti art. The forms are unrestrained, they spring from the street but find their home almost anywhere.</p>\n<p><h3>Artist</h3></p>\n<p><a href=\"https://jpkoykka.wordpress.com/\">J.P Köykkä</a> (b. 1987) lives and works in Seinäjoki, Finland.
