Tanskan radion sinfoniaorkesterin konserttimestarina, solistina, kamarimuusikkona hän on niittänyt mainetta kansainvälisillä konserttiareenoilla, Hän on koko maailmassa yksi harvoista viulisteista, joka hallitsee György Ligetin viulukonserton ja saikin vuonna 2001 arvostetun ranskalaisen Diapason d'Or -palkinnon levytyksestään.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Uusi musiikki on aina ollut lähellä Christina Åstrandin sydäntä, kuten hän itse muotoilee: ”Minua on aina kiinnostanut yhteistyö elävien säveltäjien kanssa, koska se tuo musiikkiin eloa ja mielekkyyttä ja koska teokset saavat yhtäkkiä sanallisen muodon. Pääsen kokeilemaan uusia sointivärejä ja soittotekniikoita yhdessä säveltäjien kanssa, ja inspiraatio on kaksisuuntaista. Työskentelytapa on saanut minut tarkastelemaan myös 'vanhaa' musiikkia ihan uudessa valossa. Tässä konsertissa musiikki, runonlausunta ja improvisaatio kohtaavat toisensa saumattomasti.
