Tule ainutkertaiselle näytökselle kokemaan teos, jota ei ole aikaisemmin esitetty missään! Teos on vapaasti yleisön nähtävillä Kalevan Navetan pedatila Itikassa (2. krs) koko päivän taidehallin aukioloaikana. Teos koostuu haastatteluista, musiikista ja kaitafilmille kuvatusta videomateriaalista. Videolla kuullaan naisia, jotka perustivat 70-luvulla lesbokommuunin Yhdysvaltoihin New Mexicon aavikolle.</p>\n<p>Kesto 35 min, video pyörii jatkuvana luuppina alkaen klo 11.00. "en": "<p>Kunsthalle Seinäjoki is hosting a special screening of Jessica Segall’s video work Second Wave (Don’t Give a Damn) on <strong>Friday, May 8, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m</strong>. Come to this one-time screening to experience a work that has never been shown anywhere before! The work will be freely available to the public in the workshop space Itikka (2nd floor) of Kalevan Navetta during Kunsthalle’s opening hours. The work consists of interviews, music, and video footage shot on 8mm film. The video features women who started a lesbian commune in the 1970s in the New Mexico desert in the United States.</p>\n<p>Video is 35 mins long and it is looping non stop starting from 11am.</p>\n<p>Jessica Segall’s solo exhibition <a href=\"https://www.seinajoentaidehalli.fi/en/jessica-segall-oddkin-2/\">Oddkin</a> is on display in the adjacent exhibition space Halli. Kiertue koetaan syksyllä Seinäjoella, Tampereella, Jyväskylässä ja Turussa. Lipunmyynti käynnistyy perjantaina 20. maaliskuuta klo 11 keikkapaikkojen lipunmyyntikanavissa.</p>\n<p>Vuonna 2008 perustettu Amaranthe on kuulunut jo pitkään popmetallin johtavien nimien joukkoon. Yhtye teki läpimurtonsa Euroopan metalliskenessä debyyttialbumillaan Amaranthe (2011) ja vakiinnutti nopeasti asemansa genrensä omaleimaisena suunnannäyttäjänä. Sittemmin melodista metallia, elektronista rockia ja tarkkaan hiottua popia soundissaan yhdistelevä yhtye on julkaissut useita menestyksekkäitä albumeita, kuten huikeat kuuntelumäärät kerännyt Manifest, sekä vuonna 2024 julkaistu The Catalyst, jota on kuvattu bändin hienoimmaksi albumiksi. Kokonaisuus edusti 15 vuoden työhuipentumaa ja se sisältää 12 kappaleen verran nerokkaita koukkuja genrejen yhdistelyä.</p>\n<p>Metallimusiikin voimaannuttavimpiin yhtyeisiin lukeutuva Amaranthe tunnetaan myös näyttävistä live-esiintymisistään. Lehti perustettiin vuonna 1929 ja se ilmestyi aina järjestön lakkauttamiseen vuoteen 1944 saakka. Pelissierillä on monipuolinen tausta, hän on opiskellut graafista suunnittelua sekä kuvataideopettajaksi, ja opettanut freelance-työn ohella. Kun hänen lapsensa olivat pieniä, hän alkoi opettaa suunnittelua ja kuvataidetta paikallisessa yliopistossa jatkaen samalla freelancerina. Myöhemmin hän aloitti suunnittelijana oman yrityksen ja jatkoi taiteen tekemistä.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Kun pandemia alkoi, taiteilija kääntyi taiteen puoleen kohottaakseen mielialaa. <em>Linnut hatuissa</em> -taide on ollut iloinen tapa olla yhteydessä muihin. Taiteilija avaa työskentelyään: “Kun maalaan akvarellivärein, opin niin paljon uutta jokaisesta teoksesta. Kun luulen oppineeni jotain teknisesti, vesi päättääkin käyttäytyä toisin. Vesi on yhteistyökumppanini ja kanssataiteilijani. Monesti olen luottanut veden päätökseen. Antanut sen tehdä, mitä sen kuuluu tehdä, ja olen tullut paremmaksi taiteilijaksi.”</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Taiteilija tutkii ja maalaa vesivärein residenssinsä aikana paikallisia lintuja samalla, kun tutkii sekä historiallisia että nykyaikaisia hattuja, joita ne käyttäisivät! Tämä tutkimus tarjoaa merkityksellisen tavan yhdistää maalausten linnut niiden luonnollisiin elinympäristöihin. Näyttelyn alussa linnut muuttavat esille taiteilijan mukana valtameren takaa, mutta toukokuun edetessä mukaan pyrähtää paikallisiakin lintuja niiden syntyessä residenssissä. Residenssiä ylläpitävän Osuuskunta Nostateksen tilat sijaitsevat historiallisella, entisen Piirin mielisairaalan alueella Seinäjoella. Puistojen ja suojelualueiden ympäröiminä ne tarjoavat taiteilijoille mielikuvia herättävän työympäristön. Osuuskunnan ylläpitämä Taiteilijaresidenssi Peripeteia tarjoaa majoitusta, työtilaa, yhteisön sekä työkaluja taiteilijoille.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Pistäydy baarissa toukokuun aikana ja bongaa lintuja sekä valtameren takaa että lähipiiristä! Ms. Pelissier comes from a small coastal town in the state of Rhode Island, USA. The premises of Osuuskunta Nostates, which runs the residency, are located in the historic area of the former Piiri Psychiatric Hospital in Seinäjoki. Surrounded by parks and protected areas, they offer artists an inspiring working environment. The Peripeteia Artist Residency, operated by the cooperative, provides accommodation, workspace, a community, and tools for artists.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Kelly Pelissier has a diverse background: she has studied graphic design, was an art teacher, and has taught alongside freelance work. When her children were small, she began teaching design and fine arts at a local university while continuing as a freelancer. Later, she started her own design company and continued making art.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>When the pandemic began, the artist turned to art to lift her spirits. <em>The Birds with Hats</em> artwork has been a joyful way to connect with others. The artist describes her practice: “When I paint with watercolours, I learn something new from every piece. When I think I have learned something technically, the water decides to behave differently. Water is my collaborator and co-artist. Many times I have relied on the decision of the water, letting it do what it needs to do, and I have become a better artist.”</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The artist explores and paints local Finnish birds while studying both historical and contemporary hats they might wear. This research offers a meaningful way to connect the birds in the paintings with their natural environments. At the beginning of the exhibition, the birds arrive with the artist from across the ocean, but as May progresses, local birds also join in, appearing as they emerge during the residency.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Stop by the bar during May to spot birds from both across the ocean and from nearby. Yhtye jytää Seinäjoen Rytmikorjaamolla lauantaina 10. lokakuuta. Liput ovat nyt myynnissä.</p>\n<p>Saimaa palaa Matka mielen ytimeen Vol. 2 -albumilla upeiden versiointien pariin. Albumilta on julkaistu tähän mennessä singleinä 'Hipit rautaa', 'Sotilaat, kansat, maat', 'Finlandia' sekä 'Yks ja yks'.</p>\n<p>Huippumuusikoista koostuvan Saimaan seikkailu musiikin parissa on vapautunutta ja rajoittamatonta. Vaikka yhtye ottaa vaikutteita niin classic rockista, progesta, folkista kuin iskelmästäkin, on lopputulos helposti lähestyttävä ja tarttuva kokonaisuus. Matti Mikkolan kipparoima yhtye julkaisi vuonna 2024 kaksi viiden tähden albumia (Vol. 6 & Vol 7) puolen vuoden sisään ja kiersi loppuunmyytyjä saleja ympäri Suomen. Hurmoksellisena livebändinä tunnetun Saimaan Vol. 6- ja Vol. 7-albumit saivat osakseen poikkeuksellisesta suitsutusta niin medialta, kuin yleisöltä. Illan pääesiintyjänä kuullaan 2026 vuonna ensimmäisen debyyttialbuminsa julkaisevaa Walla Walla -yhtyettä. Walla Wallan musiikki on tummanpuhuvaa ja hieman unenomaista suomenkielistä indierockia. "fi": "<p>Eteläpohjalaisesta elokuvasta kertova näyttely kokoaa yhteen vuosisadan ajalta lakeuksilla kuvattua ja sen ihmisistä kertovaa elokuvaa. Ensimmäinen mykkäfilmi Pohjalaisia aloittaa tarinan, joka kietoutuu eteläpohjalaisuuden ympärille päättyen uusimpaan Duudsonit, kotiinpaluu -elokuvaan. Näyttelyssä kerrotaan rohkeista tekijöistä, kipeistä aiheista, uhosta ja häjyistä sekä vanhoista viisaista naisista. Eteläpohjalainen elokuva ei häpeile.
