Etsimme rohkeita ja uusia ideoita, jotka tekevät edullisesta vuokra-asumisesta todellisuutta, ratkaisuja, jotka ovat innovatiivisia, käytännössä toteutettavissa ja tuottavat konkreettista hyötyä. Ratkaisun ei tarvitse, eikä sen pidä, nojata perinteiseen vuokra-asumiseen tai uudisrakentamiseen. Etsimme täysin uudenlaisia toimintamalleja, konsepteja ja ratkaisuja, joita ei ole aiemmin käytetty tai edes ajateltu.

Taidehallin ilmaispäivänä 6.2. järjestetään kaksi pikaopastuskierrosta Sarah Nakiiton & Liisa-Irmelen Liwatan Still I Rise -näyttelyyn. Kierroksilla taidehallin opas kertoo lyhyesti tarkemmin näyttelystä ja sen teoksista. Kierrosten päätteeksi oppaan johdolla on mahdollisuus päästä tunnustelemaan Sarah Nakiiton teoskokonaisuudessa käytettyä viikunanpuukuorikangasta eli olubugoa.

On Kunsthalle’s free admission friday on February 6, there will be two short guided tours of Sarah Nakiito’s & Liisa-Irmelen Liwata’s Still I Rise exhibition. During the tours, a Kunsthalle guide will give a brief overview of the exhibition and its works. At the end of the tours with the help of the guide, participants will have the opportunity to touch the fig bark fabric aka olubugo, used in Sarah Nakiito’s work.

Pasi was here on kuin lämmin villapaita, joka kutittaa hieman mutta lämmittää sitäkin enemmän. Se on tarina, joka avaa oviensa välistä ihanan tunkkaisen tuulahduksen 80-luvun Suomeen: aikaan, jolloin hiukset olivat suuria, videot olivat vielä kasettia ja lapset saivat olla juuri niin hömelöitä kuin luonto salli.

Näytelmän päähenkilö Hemmo elää nykyhetken Helsingissä, mutta hänen arkeensa iskeytyy uutinen, joka pysäyttää kuin Commodore 64:n kaatuva ohjelma: lapsuudenystävä Pasi on päättänyt astua ennenaikaisesti pois näyttämöltä. Tämä herättää Hemmossa muistoja, jotka pulpahtavat pintaan samaan tapaan kuin leipäkiven heitosta syntyvät laineet– yllättäen ja hieman haikeasti.

Kun Hemmo sukeltaa menneisyyteen, hänen matkakumppaneinaan kulkevat koko 80- ja 90-luvun sekalainen seurakunta: tarhanopettajat, joiden pedagoginen linja oli lähinnä ”katsotaan mitä tapahtuu”, sekä luokkakaverit, jotka saattoivat olla mitä vain normityypeistä wannabe-rokkareihin. Muistot ovat yhtä aikaa lämpimiä ja tahattoman koomisia.

Samalla Pasi was here on syvälle käyvä tragikoominen kuvaus siitä, millaista on huomata, että lapsuudenystävyyteen liittyy asioita, joita ei voi enää koskaan saada takaisin. Nuorten aikuisten arjessa muistot ja sukupolvikokemukset limittyvät toisiinsa kuin vanhan vhs-nauhan päälle nauhoitetut Pikku Kakkosen jaksot – joskus vähän kohisten, mutta aina merkityksellisinä. Musta huumori toimii pelastusrenkaana, kun Hemmo yrittää ymmärtää Pasin jättämää tyhjää paikkaa ja omaa kasvuansa aikuisuuteen.

Käsikirjoittaja Veikko Nuutisen herkkä, tarkkanäköinen ja humoristisesti rönsyilevä teksti palkittiin vuonna 2018 Lea-palkinnolla parhaasta näytelmätekstistä – eikä ihme. Pasi was here onnistuu yhtä aikaa naurattamaan, liikuttamaan ja jättämään pienen, kummallisen lämpimän jäljen sydämeen. Se on hykerryttävä ja koskettava aikamatka siihen, keitä olimme, miten meistä tuli niitä, joita nyt olemme – ja mitä kaikkea matkan varrella jäi kirjoittamatta.

Nuorten aikuisten arjessa muistot ja sukupolvikokemukset limittyvät toisiinsa kuin vanhan vhs-nauhan päälle nauhoitetut Pikku Kakkosen jaksot – joskus vähän kohisten, mutta aina merkityksellisinä. Musta huumori toimii pelastusrenkaana, kun Hemmo yrittää ymmärtää Pasin jättämää tyhjää paikkaa ja omaa kasvuansa aikuisuuteen.

Käsikirjoittaja Veikko Nuutisen herkkä, tarkkanäköinen ja humoristisesti rönsyilevä teksti palkittiin vuonna 2018 Lea-palkinnolla parhaasta näytelmätekstistä – eikä ihme. Pasi was here onnistuu yhtä aikaa naurattamaan, liikuttamaan ja jättämään pienen, kummallisen lämpimän jäljen sydämeen. Se on hykerryttävä ja koskettava aikamatka siihen, keitä olimme, miten meistä tuli niitä, joita nyt olemme – ja mitä kaikkea matkan varrella jäi kirjoittamatta.
