Tänä kesänä himmeleiden kanssa Suomea kiertävä matkalainen Ayana Usami on opiskellut suomea Japanissa ja tutkii itsenäisesti suomalaista himmelikulttuuria. Ayana valmistaa matkan aikana 100 pientä oktaedria, jotka täyttyvät kohtaamisilla ja muistoilla. Jouluksi nämä osat muotoutuvat yhdeksi taideteokseksi himmelisti Eija Kosken luovuuden kautta. Tule kokeilemaan ja auta meitä punomaan osa tätä tarinaa!

Ayana Usami, a traveler touring Finland with himmeli this summer, studied Finnish in Japan and is independently researching Finnish himmeli culture. During her trip, Ayana will make 100 small octahedrons, which will be filled with encounters and memories. By Christmas, these pieces will be transformed into a single work of art through the creativity of himmeli artist Eija Koski. Come try your hand at it and help us weave a part of this story!

Olemme toisiamme varten -kirjoitusretriitti Majaniemessä viikonloppuna 21.-23.8. Ohjelmassa on ohjattua kirjoittamista, herkullista ruokaa ja hiljentymistä kirjoittamisesta innostuneessa seurassa.

Etsimme tietä toisen ihmisen luokse erilaisia toiminnallisia menetelmiä käyttäen runojen, tarinoiden ja musiikin avulla. Ja tietysti kirjoittamalla.

Sinun ei tarvitse jännittää ohjaajia eikä osaamistasi. Kirjoitusretriitti sopii kaikentasoisille kirjoittajille.
Kirjoitusretriitin ohjaajina ovat retriitinohjaaja-kirjoittaja Tuuli Tamminen- Syrjälahti ja kirjallisuusterapiaohjaaja Marja-Liisa Kiukkonen. Pappina on Anitta Vuorela.
Viikonlopun hinta on 110 € kauhajokisille ja karijokisille sekä 150 € muualta tuleville. Hintaan sisältyvät kirjoitusretriitin ohjelma, majoitus omassa huoneessa sekä ruokailut.

WALLHILL Metal Festival Saapuu Seinäjoelle ensi kesänä!

WALLHILL Metal Festival näkee päivänvalon ensimmäistä kertaa 29.8.2026, kun OmaSp Stadionin Hetki-areena muuntuu raskaamman musiikin pyhätöksi. Lavalla tullaan näkemään juhlavuottaan viettävä Stam1na, Ensiferum, joka on yksi kansainvälisesti tunnetuimmista suomalaisista metalliyhtyeistä sekä kotimaisen metallin kulmakivet Korpiklaani, Tarot ja Nicole.. Tapahtuma on K18.

Reittivaihtoehtoja on kolme: n. 8 km, n. 3 km ja alle 1 km. Reittien pituudet vielä tarkistusmitataan ennen tapahtumaa.

Palkintoja ja palkintosijoja ei jaeta, vaan tarkoitus on nauttia liikunnasta, yhdessäolosta ja itsensä haastamisesta.

Ajanotto on on käytössä, joten jokainen saa halutessaan tiedon omasta suorituksestaan.

Kaikki reitit lähtevät nuorisoseurantalo Toimelan pihasta ja kulkevat enimmäkseen hiekka-/sorateitä sekä metsäteitä/-polkuja pitkin. Kaksi pidempää reittiä ovat monipuolisia maastoltaan: on nousuja ja laskuja sekä erilaista tienpohjaa. Ja tietenkin Ilvesjoen ylitys siltoja pitkin kuuluu asiaan. Lyhimmän reitin on tarkoitus olla sellainen, että pienimmätkin juoksijat voivat kiertää sen huoltajan tai muun vanhemman kanssa.

Walking bass -kierroksella jokainen tila antaa lähtökohdan sävelmaailmalle. Aalto-keskuksen matka alkaa kirjastosta ja jatkuu kaupungintalon aulaan, josta siirrytään nuorisoseuralle. Lopulta päädytään Villa Väinölään. Jokainen rakennus saa oman äänensä tällä noin tunnin kestävällä kierroksella. Ahti Lassila on kiertänyt Walking bass -kierroksensa kanssa maamme taidemuseoita yli kymmenen vuoden ajan.

Tervetuloa päättämään yhdessä Aaltojen kaupungin tapahtumaviikkoa hyvässä seurassa musiikin, tanssin ja juhlapuheiden merkeissä.

Poppy String Quartet on helsinkiläinen yhtye, joka syntyi neljän ammattimuusikon intohimosta soittaa popmusiikkia tyylikkäin jousikvartettisovituksin. Milenaa, Marleenaa, Minjaa ja Susannaa yhdistää vahva osaaminen omissa instrumenteissaan, into toteuttaa omia visioitaan sekä rakkaus yhteissoittoa ja esiintymistä kohtaan.

Aitoa elämää Aaltojen keskellä - tanssiteos käsittelee elämää Alajärvellä eri näkökulmista. Tanssimme lakeuden peltoaukeiden utuisista aamuista ja Het sitte huolettomasta ja toimeliaasta lapsuudesta Alajärvellä. Tanssimme siitä, kuinka täältä lennähdetään maailmalle, ja miten tänne taas palataan kotiin. Finaalinumerossa päästämme Alajärven vedet virtaamaan 40 naisen voimin.

\n

Alavolin eri sukupolvien yhteisenä ponnistuksena syntyneessä tanssitarinassa nähdään koko alajärveläinen elämän kaari, sillä se yhdistää lähes 70 tanssijaa, joista nuorimmat ovat 5-vuotiaita ja vanhimmat 80-vuotiaita. Koreografiat ovat Maiju Korkea-ahon, Minna Latvalan ja Tiina Uiton käsialaa.

Musiikkina teoksessa kuullaan Anssi Tikanmäeltä Aamu Lakeuksilla sekä Savolainen Metsä, Ostrobothnian Folk Orchestralta Kotiinpaluu sekä Heikki Sarmannolta ja Juhani Aaltoselta Vedet Virtaavat.

Alajärveläislähtöinen Matti Ahopelto tunnetaan taiteilijanimellä AHO. Matin kädenjälkeä on tietämättäänkin saattanut kuulla, jos levylautaselle on päätynyt Vestaa tai Siinaita, jos matka on vienyt Comme des Garçonsin showroomiin Tokioon tai jos on kaikkien muiden lailla katsonut Anna Brotkinin ja Ulla Heikkilän hehkutettua Atlantis Pasilaa ja tutustunut sen synnyttämään garage-rock-sensaatio Mammaan. Monipuolisen uransa aikana hän on luonut omaleimaisen musiikillisen maailman, jossa orgaaniset instrumentit ja synteettiset äänet yhdistyvät elokuvallisiin tunnelmiin ja moniulotteisiin ambient-äänimaisemiin.
