Toimittaja ja tietokirjailija Tapio Nurminen kertoo Saksan historiasta, nykypäivästä ja tulevaisuudesta. Tapio Nurminen on asunut yli 30 vuotta Saksassa ja toiminut Kauppalehden ja MTV-uutisten kirjeenvaihtajana. Tällä hetkellä Tapio Nurminen toimii Maaseudun Tulevaisuuden Eurooppa-kirjeenvaihtajana. Nurminen on julkaissut useita teoksia. Nyt vuoden 2026 paineisessa maailmantilanteessa Euroopalta odotetaan vahvaa johtajuutta ja katse kohdistuu erityisesti maanosan suurimpaan talousmahtiin Saksaan. Luontokuvaaja Antti Strang kertoo Peukaloinen kirjaprojektin vaiheista Artturi Kivinevan haastattelemana, minkä jälkeen Antti käy läpi peukaloisen tarinan huippuhetket kuvaesityksessään. Tilaisuudessa yleisö pääsee tutustumaan seinäjokiseen luontokuvaaja-tietokirjailijaan henkilökohtaisesti ja keskustelemaan lintuihin ja niiden kuvaamiseen sekä luontoon liittyvistä teemoista.

Antti Strang on seurannut ja valokuvannut peukaloisen elämää kuuden vuoden ajan. Kirjan kuvitus ja tekijän omakohtaisiin kokemuksiin perustuvat tarinat avaavat lukijalle peukaloisen elämää ainutlaatuisella tavalla. Peukaloisen tarina kulkee korpimetsistä hakkuuaukioille sekä Lounais-Suomen merenlahdilta aina Suomen mantereen eteläisimpään pisteeseen Hankoniemelle. Tarinoiden lomassa kirja tarjoaa monipuolista tietoa peukaloisesta kansantajuisesti kirjoitettuna.

Peukaloinen on yksi ilmastonmuutoksen hyötyjistä. Kirja avaa kehityskulkua, joka toisaalta on aiheuttanut muun muassa hömötiaisen taantumisen yhdestä tavallisimmista linnuistamme erittäin uhanalaiseksi lajiksi, ja toisaalta on johtanut peukaloisen pesimäkannan voimakkaaseen kasvuun.

\n

Kirja kertoo myös Antti Strangin hyvin henkilökohtaisen kehitystarinan kautta hänen syvällisestä suhteestaan peukaloiseen ja kuinka hän päätyi omistautumaan peukaloisprojektille useaksi vuodeksi.

Luontokuvaaja Antti Strang on kuvannut vanhojen metsien elämää liki kolmen vuosikymmenen ajan. Antti on Vuoden Luontokuva 2022 -kilpailun voittaja, ja hän on keskittynyt viime vuodet metsän pienimpien lintujen kuten hömö- ja töyhtötiaisen sekä puukiipijän ja peukaloisen kuvaamiseen. Strangin esikoiskirja Puukiipijä yhdessä emeritusprofessori Markku Kuitusen kanssa julkaistiin toukokuussa 2024 (Docendo).

Merja Mäki on palkittu eteläpohjalainen kirjailija ja äidinkielenopettaja, joka tunnetaan erityisesti vahvoista historiallisista romaaneistaan ja lastenkirjallisuudestaan. Mäki on saanut kiitosta kauniista ja sujuvasta kielestä, jota hän kirjoissaan käyttää. Mäen teokset Ennen lintuja ja Itki toisenkin ovat olleet erittäin suosittuja ja ne ovat päässeet myös Kuortaneella luetuimpien kirjojen listalle useana vuotena peräkkäin.
