"fi": "<p>Jessica Segallin yksityisnäyttely <em>Oddkin</em> esittelee yhdysvaltalaiselta kuvataiteilijalta monikanavaisia videoteoksia ja installaatioita. Näyttely on avoinna 24.1.2026 – 23.5.2026 Seinäjoen taidehallin Halli-näyttelytilassa.</p>\n<p>Uhanalainen luonto voi olla ihmisille vihamielinen. Haavoittuvat ympäristöt näyttäytyvät Jessica Segallin teoksissa yhtä aikaa houkuttelevina, herkkinä ja vaarallisina. Segall tuo teoksissaan näkyväksi ihmisten luontoon kohdistuviin valtasuhteisiin liittyviä fantasioita ja ristiriitoja.</p>\n<p>Seinäjoen taidehallin näyttelyn teokset sijoittuvat avarille öljynporauskentille ja intiimeille takapihoille. Teoksessa (<em>un)common intimacy</em> (2018) Segall ui yhdessä yksityisreservaattien villieläinten kanssa. <em>Human Energy</em> (2023) on monikanavainen videoinstallaatio, jossa Segall kiipeää valtavan öljypumpun päälle. Näyttelyn visuaalisesti hätkähdyttävät teokset tulevat iholle ja tuntuvat kehossa.</p>\n<p>Jessica Segall työskentelee laaja-alaisesti tutkijoiden, aktivistien ja ei-inhimillisten toimijoiden kanssa. Hänen ajatteluaan ohjaa poikkitieteellinen queer-ekologia. Queer-ekologia on teoria ja tieteenala, joka tutkii sukupuolen ja luonnon moninaisuutta. Segall esiintyy teoksissa yhdessä eläinten ja muiden ei-inhimillisten toimijoiden kanssa. Näyttelyn nimi <em>Oddkin</em> viittaa yhdysvaltalaisen teoreetikon Donna Harawayn kehittämään käsitteeseen. Haraway ehdottaa, että hoiva ja kumppanuus eivät vaadi geneettistä perheyhteyttä. "en": "<p>Jessica Segall’s solo exhibition <em>Oddkin</em> presents multichannel video works and installations by the Brooklyn and NY based artist. The exhibition is open 24.1.2026—23.5.2026 in the exhibition space Halli of the Kunsthalle Seinäjoki.</p>\n<p><h3>Visually striking video works</h3></p>\n<p>Jessica Segall investigates threatened environments that can be hostile to humans. Segall’s works are sited in locations both exploited and wild. Where <em>Human Energy </em>(2023) is set in the vastness of oil fields, (<em>un)common intimacy</em> (2018) is filmed in private animal parks. The endangered ecological sites in Segall’s works are seen as attractive, fragile, dangerous and vulnerable at the same time. Her works reveal the fantasies and contradictions of human power relations with nature.</p>\n<p>Segall works with a wide range of researchers, activists and non-human actors. Her thinking is guided by an interdisciplinary theory of queer ecology. Queer ecology is a theory and discipline that examines the power structures that both oppress and categorize gender, sex and nature. In her works, Segall performs herself and collaborates with other non-human actors. The visually striking works are both tactile and affective.</p>\n<p>The title of the exhibition, <em>Oddkin</em>, refers to a concept developed by American theorist Donna Haraway. Haraway suggests that care, partnership and survival during the time of environmental crisis do not require blood or family ties. Unlikely alliances that transcend species boundaries can arise unexpectedly and are crucial for our earthly survival.</p>\n"
