Miten nämä hetket juurtuvat ympäristöömme, arkeemme ja muistoihimme?</em></blockquote>\n<p>Gabriella Presnalin yhden päivän pop-up näyttely, jossa on esillä veistoksia, videoteos sekä viimeinen rikkomisseremonia Kalevan Navetan sisäpihalla klo 17.30 alkaen.</p>\n<p><h3>Kymmenes Kesäkuvataiteilija</h3></p>\n<p>Kesäkuvataiteilijan kesä on koostunut työhuonetyöskentelystä, osallistavista työpajoista ja yleisötapahtumista, joissa on syntynyt tilaa toiveille, unelmille ja konkreettisille teoille paikallisen ympäristön hyväksi.</p>\n<p>Kesän aikana Presnal on toteuttanut <em>Meadow Pods</em> -taideprojektin, joka koostuu useista ontoista, roikkuvista niittysiemeniä sisältävistä veistoksista. Taiteilijan ohella myös paikallinen yhteisö kutsuttiin tuhoamaan veistokset, jolloin siemenet vapautuvat ympäristöön kaikkien iloksi. Presnal on ollut mukana teoksillaan Provinssissa sekä Taidehallin performanssiklubilla. Veistokset ovat mallinnettu kotoperäisten siementen mukaan, ja niissä on käytetty biokomposiittia, orgaanista materiaalia, joka on hankittu paikallisen yhteisön keräämänä. Itikanmäen naapurusto on kerännyt munankuoria ja kahvipurua taiteilijalle koko heinäkuun ajan. Lisäksi paikalliset leipomot ovat osallistuneet keräykseen. Kulttuuripalveluiden henkilökunta on myös kerännyt koko kesän munankuoria. Kiitos kaikille osallistuneille ja tervetuloa katsomaan näyttelyä.</p>\n<p><h3>Rikkomisseremonia</h3></p>\n<p>to 20.8. klo 17.30</p>\n<p>Projekti ammentaa inspiraatiota useista juhlista, joihin liittyy rikkomista, murtamista tai murskaamista. Meksikolaiset piñatat ja niiden rikkominen on yksi tunnetuimmista rikkomista sisältävistä juhlarituaaleista. Muita tuhoamista tai murskaamista liittyviä juhlatradioita ovat kreikkalaisortodoksiset botides, kiinalainen kansanperinne ”kevään karjan ruoskiminen” (dǎ chūnniú) sekä pohjoiseurooppalaiset juhannusperinteet, kuten keskikesän kerätyt kukat, joiden uskotaan auttavan unelmoimaan tulevasta rakkaudesta. Monet näistä tapahtumista juhlistavat uudistumista, satoa ja luonnon rytmejä.</p>\n<p><em>Meadow Pods</em> -veistokset rikotaan ulkona yhteisesti lyömällä niitä kepillä, jolloin niittysiemenet tippuvat maahan. How do they weave themselves into our environments, daily habits, and our memories?</em></blockquote>\n<p>Come check out Gabriella Presnal’s one-day pop-up exhibition, featuring sculptures, a video installation, and the final breaking ceremony in the courtyard of Kalevan Navetta starting at 5:30 p.m.</p>\n<h3>The tenth Summer Artist</h3>\n<p>The summer artist has consisted of studio work, participatory workshops, and public events that have created space for hopes, dreams, and concrete actions to benefit the local environment.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>During the summer, Presnal has carried out the Meadow Pods art project, which consists of several hollow, hanging sculptures filled with meadow seeds. Along with the artist, the local community was also invited to destroy the sculptures, releasing the seeds into the environment for everyone to enjoy. Presnal has presented her work at Provinssi and at Taidehalli’s performance club. The sculptures are modeled after native seeds and are made of biocomposite, an organic material collected by the local community. The Itikanmäki neighborhood has been collecting eggshells and coffee grounds for the artist throughout the month of July. Local bakeries have also participated in the collection effort. Staff from the department of Cultural Services have been collecting eggshells all summer as well. Thank you to everyone who participated, and welcome to view the exhibition!</p>\n<p></p>\n<h3>Breaking Seremony</h3>\n<p>to 20.8. at 5.30 pm</p>\n<p>The project has been influenced by multiple celebrations that involve breaking, cracking, or smashing. Especially by Mexican piñatas, but similarly, the Greek Orthodox Botides, the Chinese folk ritual “whipping the spring cattle” (dǎ chūnniú), and the foraged flowers of midsummer, which are believed to aid in dreaming of future love. Many celebrate renewal, harvests, growth, and ecological rhythms.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The Meadow Pods sculptures will be broken by participants hitting them with sticks, causing the meadow seeds to fall to the ground. This act continues a festive tradition: it carries the hope for a better climate as the seeds take root in the local environment.</p>\n"
